WEEKLY WHAT’S ON!

Lots of autumn and Christmas (yes I’ve mentioned that C word) are starting to pop up. Make sure you don’t miss out and cast your eye over the Brackley Events Watcher page and events tab.

Here is what has been spotted for this week.


BRACKLEY COMMUNITY MUSEUM

Available to view during Brackley Library opening hours

Brackley is steeped in history from the Iron Age to the modern day. Unveiled on Friday 15th September, the permanent Brackley Community Museum display is now open for all to view during the library opening hours. The first display will take you through the many eras of Brackley’s fascinating history.


BOOKTRUST STORYTIME

Thursday 28th September 10:00am – 11:00am Brackley Library

Brackley Library are back with their Booktrust Storytime which takes place on the last Thursday of each month from 10am-11am!

A 1 hour session broken down into 30 minutes of stories and nursery rhymes (just like their weekly Explore-A-Story session) followed by 30 minutes of play with a range of toys!

They have been provided with brand new books and every child who comes along will get their own sticker book to collect themed stickers each month.

This is all completely free of charge and they’d love to see lots of new faces as well as their Explore-A-Story regulars! Book your place by emailing brackley.libraryplus@westnorthants.gov.uk or by visiting the library.



CHATTY CAFE

Thursday 28th September 3:00pm – 5:00pm Lounge Cafe Bar, Brackley

Chatter and Natter table is a wonderful way of encouraging people of all ages to talk to others and not feel so socially isolated. So pop along if you fancy a spot of company and meet someone new. Having a chat can brighten someone’s day.



WALKING RUGBY

Every Thursday from 7:00pm Brackley Rugby Club

£2.50 per month to join, just pop along.



MORRIS DANCING

Thursday 28th September from 8:00pm, The Town Hall, Brackley

Music and dance works wonders for your mental & physical wellbeing. No cost, no commitment, just a chance to try it for yourself. Every Thursday night, 8pm upstairs in The Brackley Town Hall.



BRACKLEY CHARTER MARKET

Every Friday 9:00am – 3:00pm approx The Piazza, Brackley

Fresh vegetables, fish, bread, plants and more every Friday in the centre of Brackley



MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING

Friday 29th September 10:00am – 12:00noon Brackley Library

Pop along this morning for wonderful homemade cake from Brackley Country Market and help raise funds for a brilliant cause.



BRACKLEY COUNTRY MARKET

Friday 29th September 10:00am – 12:00noon Brackley Library

Located in Brackley Library every Friday. Not only do they have their legendary sausage rolls (come early for those), they have delicious homemade bakes, handcrafted goodies and wonderful local honey and fresh local eggs. Stay for a chat and have a cup of tea or coffee in their pop up tea shop.



CITIZEN’S ADVICE DROP-IN

Every Friday 10:00am – 12:00noon Brackley Library

An advisor will be in our laptop bar in the main library who can offer free, impartial, independent and confidential advice, pop in for an initial chat to see how they can help you.



SOCIAL STITCH AT STITCHING KITCHEN

Friday 29th September 10:00am-12:30pm Stitching Kitchen, Top Station Road, Brackley

Make some crafty friends! You can learn from others in a totally informal way. Join us at Stitching Kitchen each Friday morning to stitch in company. We are a chatty, supportive, friendly and inclusive group who love to help a fellow crafter in need of help, inspiration or advice.

Bring along your current stitch project and join us for a chat, cuppa and cake.

A great way to get fit without getting out of breath. £4.20 per session, free if you are a leisure centre member. First taster session is also free so you can pop along and see if it’s for you!



WALKING FOOTBALL

Every Friday 10:30am-11:30am Brackley Town Football Club

Walking Football at Brackley Town FC for Over 50s on their all weather pitch, Tuesday and Friday 10.30am to 11.30am. The cost is £3.00 a session and showers and tea/coffee included afterwards. Great way to meet new people and get fit.

Are you struggling to afford food? Brackley Community Food Larder is open to anyone facing hardship. It is a social supermarket stocked with donated food and food purchased through fundraising initiatives. Annual joining fee £10 then it’s pay as you go. Pop up shops have come to Brackley and will run the last Saturday of the month throughout 2023.

With a rotation of Brackley small businesses, pop along to Alexander & Co to support some of the wonderful businesses of Brackley.



HELLO AUTUMN

Saturday 30th September and Sunday 1st October 10:00am – 4:00pm Evenley Wood Garden

Fantastic weekend celebrating the changing of the season.

On Saturday they will have Paul Robinson joining them with his apple press making wonderful fresh apple juice. Dan and Jo will be leading garden and foraging walks around the garden.
Dan Winters will be holding a Q & A so bring along your photographs and questions.
Daniel will be holding a craft table, planting acorns and making mini bug hotels.
Along with their fantastic new autumn menu in the café.

Sunday they will be joined by Adam from Baillie & Co with his mini forge, Barry and his spoon carving, Amanda from Bee Life. More apple pressing along with many more. Come and see how some of their suppliers do what they do, enjoy the autumn colours and treat yourself to a hotdog and an apple warmer.

No additional charge for this event. Normal admission applies.




CREATION CLUB

A free craft session for children aged 4+ with a new craft to make each week. Join Grandad Ken and Estelle every week at the library. All children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.



KNIT AND NATTER

Don’t craft on your own, pop along to the friendly knit and natter group every Monday at the library.

THE BRACKLEY & DISTRICT TABLETOP GAMERS CLUB (THE BAD GAMERS CLUB)

Every Tuesday 7:00pm – 10:30pm Egerton Hall, Brackley

The BAD Gamers Club are an informal tabletop games club, with a wide range of gaming interests covering all aspects of the tabletop games hobby – Miniatures Wargaming, Boardgames and Card Games, Role Playing Games (RPG’s)

Ages range from 16 to 60+ and on most Tuesdays, they have eight to twelve people at the club. With 1 – 2 miniatures war games and 1 – 2 boardgames tables being used. Plus a couple of role-playing campaigns with sessions running at least once a month,

Help Brackley Litter Wombles keep our town tidy with a quick weekly litter pick. The majority of the time, the meeting place will be the library but there may be other places where they meet up that will be closer to their wombling spot. BRACKLEY HISTORY SOCIETY TALK

Wednesday 4th October from 7:30pm Brackley Methodist Church

Another fascinating talk from our local history society this month.
This month's theme is
Edward Jenner & Vaccinations. Of heightened interest following the pandemic, Steve Bacon will talk about Edward Jenner , the pioneer who in 1796 created the world’s first vaccine.
