With a little creative thought and improvisation, it is easy to put your own outfit together. There were various styles and representation of the Victorian era. Affluent, elegant ladies and gentlemen of the time, fine dresses with bustles, feathered hats and parasols, waistcoated gents in top hats, pocket watches & walking canes. On the flip side, there were rogues, pick pockets, flower sellers, chimney sweeps and ladies of the night, poverty and dirty faces.
An old overcoat with a flat cap and a neck scarf, boots, fingerless gloves, women in mop caps and aprons, flowing skirts, high neck blouses, a tavern dress with a shawl. If you are having difficulties with inspiration, think Oliver, Bill Sykes and Nancy, Mary Poppins, Peaky blinders. Charity shops have a range of inexpensive possibilities as a starting point, but please feel free to contact the office who can give further advice, or if you just need a bit of inspiration.
